Sesame Blistered Shishito Peppers

If you haven't had blistered shishito peppers... you must run, not walk... and get some! This recipe takes all of 5 minutes and is such a good appetizer/side/finger food. These will disappear so fast you'll probably be looking for another basket of shishito peppers before the end of the meal!

  • 1 basket shishito peppers
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (I prefer the black sesame seeds for this dish but either will be fine!)

  • Rinse and dry the shishito peppers.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium high heat and add a bit of sesame oil to coat the bottom.
  • Cook the shishito peppers, turning occasionally until blistered with black char.
  • Remove to a plate and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Proceed to devour with your friends.

My wife and I first had blistered shishito peppers about 10 years ago in NYC and have basically been ordering them ever since. There are so many minor variations on the theme, I enjoy the little kick of sesame with these but also have done some with herbs and parmesan, or just plain, whatever floats your boat. Just don't forget to share!
